Best friends, Bernie Bloomberg and Sol Rabinowicz have operated their own hardware store in New York, for 50 years. It all comes apart after Bernie defaults on a loan from mobsters. Sol pretends they are themselves mobsters and sets about threatening to kill the local kingpin, "Joey Legs." It's no surprise, then, when Sol and Bernie end up in the witness protection program in Texas, they have some difficulty "fitting in." Comedy 65-70 min
REVIEWS
“A truly funny two-hander ... a feast of pitch-perfect vaudevillian banter served with a generous helping of heart. Should be an absolute crowd-pleaser!” ~ Rich Rubin, Playwright

“Imagine The Sunshine Boys meet Goodfellas meet Hopalong Catskill (a very old cartoon if you’re not familiar). That should give you an idea of the comic banter between these two alta cockers and the crazy situations they find themselves in. Their friendship and business partnership are put to the test, but the jokes keep coming! Two fun roles for senior actors!” ~ Morey Norkin, Playwright

“Bernie and Sol are two old Jewish guys who've known each other all their lives and owned a hardware store together. No doubt they were bickering the whole time. The situation is absurd, the costumes--especially in the Texas scene--are walking sight gags, and the dialogue, full of malapropisms and affectionate digs at one another, is hilarious. These are roles two older comedic actors will have a ball doing as the audience laughs from start to finish.” ~ Donald E. Baker, Playwright

“Such a charming two-hander for two senior performers. It's full of classic comic wordplay, and we especially appreciate that the story is rooted in these two characters' friendship, rather than focusing exclusively on issues related to aging. We're proud to be presenting it as part our readers theatre series featuring performers over the age of 60.” ~ Mirrrorbox Theatre
